Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 29, 2026
PodSpin (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services at podspin.ai (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information through our authentication provider (Clerk). We do not store your password directly — authentication is handled securely by Clerk.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full billing details on our servers. We retain your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.
Content You Upload
When you upload podcast episodes, your audio files are transmitted to AssemblyAI for transcription. Audio files are stored temporarily on AssemblyAI’s servers for processing and are subject to their data retention policies. Generated content (transcripts, show notes, blog posts, social posts, etc.) is stored in our database to provide the Service.
Usage and Analytics
We automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and actions taken (such as content copied or exported). This data helps us improve the Service and understand how it is used.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To process your transactions and manage your subscription
- To transcribe and generate content from your uploaded episodes
- To send you service-related communications (account updates, billing notices)
- To respond to your requests and provide customer support
- To monitor usage patterns and optimize performance
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate PodSpin:
- Clerk — Authentication and user management
- Stripe — Payment processing and subscription management
- AssemblyAI — Audio transcription and speaker detection
- OpenAI — AI-powered content generation
- Vercel — Hosting, serverless functions, and database (Postgres)
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing the use of your data. We only share the minimum information necessary for each service to function.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL
- Database credentials and API keys are stored as encrypted environment variables
- Authentication is handled by Clerk with enterprise-grade security
- Payment data never touches our servers (processed directly by Stripe)
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and generated content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information and content within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records. Audio files uploaded for transcription are not permanently stored by PodSpin — they are processed by AssemblyAI and subject to their retention policies.
6. Your Rights
